Mavericks Fall in RMAC Semifinal

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa could only muster seven hits in a 4-2 loss to the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Roadrunners advance to tomorrow's RMAC Tournament Championship game while the Mavericks will have to defeat CSU-Pueblo to advance in a halted game.

The game was delayed 50 minutes for lightning in the early stages of the game

MSU Denver took the lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run by Trent Maloney to right field. It was a lead the Roadrunner's would not give up.

The closest the Mavericks got was 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning.

Second baseman Andy Scott was the lone Maverick to have good success against MSU Denver starter Mike Thill. Scott finished the game with a pair of doubles and a RBI.

Ryan Reno took the loss on the mound after pitching eight innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, walked none and struck out four while dropping to 11-2 on the season.

Colorado Mesa was leading 1-0 over CSU-Pueblo in the top of the second inning when the game was halted due to rain. The game will resume at 12:30pm tomorrow at Suplizio Field.
