DENVER – Lindenwood University defeated Colorado Mesa University 19-7 in the semifinals of the RMAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Saturday (May 2).
Lindenwood, the top seed in the tournament, scored the first six goals of the game before
Lydia Furrow scored the first Mesa goal at 24:01.
Jessica Cook scored the second goal of the game for CMU three minutes later to close the score to 7-2.
LU scored six unanswered goals before CMU ended the half with a pair of goals from
Jenny Lange.
The second half started with a pair of Lindenwood goals followed by a pair of CMU goals by
Nicole Beaton and
Jessica Cook.
The Lions scored four more goals in the half before
Lydia Furrow scored the final goal of the game for the Mavs.
Lindenwood finished with advantages in both shots (30-22) and draw controls (17-11). Mesa held a 15-14 edge in ground balls.
Jillian Pfeifer took the loss giving up 10 goals.
Kady Herzog made five saves and allowed nine goals in 48 minutes of relief action for CMU.
CMU finishes the season 9-6. The nine wins is the most in school history.Â
