GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University softball team swept Black Hills State in a pair of run-ruled RMAC games Friday (April 3).
The Mavericks collected a season-high 18 hits to win game one 15-7 in six innings. CMU won game two 10-2 in five innings.
Brooke Hodgson earned the win in game one allowing seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits. She also hit 4-for-5 with five RBI.
Zoe Pakes batted 3-for-4 with three RBI.
The duo hit back-to-back homeruns in the fifth inning.
CMU scored a run in every inning, including three in each of the final four innings. The Mavs tallied a season-high 15 RBIs in the game.
Black Hills enjoyed a 2-1 lead through four and a half innings before CMU scored five in the fourth inning and ended the game early with four runs in the fifth. The game lasted one hour and 18 minutes.

The Mavs left just three runners on base.
Makayla Kovac went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Rochelle Talamantes earned her third win of the season allowing two runs on six hits for the complete game.
CMU improves to 23-16 overall and 18-6 in the RMAC. CMU and BHSU will close out the series with a doubleheader Saturday (April 3).Â
