LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado Mesa dropped their third straight game on Saturday when they fell to Colorado Christian 72-61 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball matchup.
Colorado Christian built a 28-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They shot 46 percent in the first half and over 47 percent for the game.
The Mavericks fell behind by as many as 24 points with 9:45 to play in the second quarter. They cut it to within four with 2:11 left in the third quarter but couldn't get any closer. The Cougars followed that up by going on a 10-0 run to close out the third quarter and the start of the fourth quarter.
Over half of the shots taken by Colorado Mesa were three pointers (32-24) which helped them crawl back into the game as they made 34 percent of those shots.
Bryanna Adams had a game-high 26 points and made six three-point field goals. She was 10-of-15 from the field and finished with three steals and three rebounds.
Laurin Rivera finished the game with nine assists.
Colorado Christian's Kate Louthan paced the Cougar offense with 19 points and Claire Paxton had 16.
The Mavericks will be off for the Christmas break and return to action on New Years Day when they take on RMAC newcomer South Dakota Mines at 5:30pm at Brownson Arena.
