GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 25
th ranked Colorado Mesa women's basketball team opened up the home schedule with an 81-43 win over visiting Oklahoma Panhandle in the first day of the Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic.
The Mavericks ended the first quarter with a 26-3 lead but allowed the Aggies to get back in the game after allowing them to score 19 points in the second quarter.
They closed out the game on a 39-21 run.
Colorado Mesa allowed just 12 baskets in the game for a 22.6 shooting percentage. The Mavericks shot 40.3 percent themselves and outrebounded Oklahoma Panhandle 55-34.
The Mavericks had three players in double-figure scoring.
Bryanna Adams led the Mavericks with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the three-point line. Adams was also 5-for-5 on her free-throw attempts to lead all scorers.
Senior
Siu Lo'amanu was just a point shy of registering a double-double and finished the night with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Center
Erika Musante finished the night with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Sydney Small finished with 12 points.
Senior
Laurin Rivera had a career-high nine assists and pulled down five rebounds.
The Mavericks will close out the Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic tomorrow night against Dixie State at 5pm.
