Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa men's soccer team scored one goal in the first half and two in the second half in a 3-0 shutout of the visiting Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field.
The win catapults the Mavericks into a tie for second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
Colorado Mesa got the scoring going in the first half with a goal from
Luis Schraidt in the 44
th minute. Schraidt took a ricochet off a previous shot to give the Mavericks the 1-0 halftime lead.
Alec Dinsmore moved the score to 2-0 when he scored his goal in the 69
th minute. Dinsmore took a crossing pass from
Kevin Del Mazo to score his first collegiate goal.
Senior defender
Blake Carlson scored his first goal of the season to cap the 3-0 win. Carlson headed in his goal off a corner kick from
Kevin Escobar.
Freshman goalkeeper
Briley Guarneri earned the shutout in net, facing seven shots and making three saves.
The Mavericks have now won four matches in a row and will now head out on a three match road trip next weekend with a pair of matches on the Front Range.
