Live VideoComplete Match Notes vs. UCCS and MSUDLAST WEEKENDColorado Mesa picked up two shutout victories last week. On Wednesday, the Mavericks defeated Westminster 4-0 in Salt Lake City. Four different players scored goals in the match with
Oscar Odriozola earning a goal and an assist. On Sunday,
Kevin Del Mazo's goal in the 49th minute was all the Mavericks needed in a 1-0 win over CSU-Pueblo. Colorado Mesa outshot the Thunderwolves 19-5 in the match.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTSThis week's matchups will have heavy implications on the postseason. UCCS currently sits in second place in the RMAC while MSU Denver beat the Mavericks in the RMAC matchup earlier but could be ahead of CMU in the Regional poll released later this week.

Briley Guarneri garnered his second RMAC goalkeeper of the week after earning a pair of shutouts against Westminster and CSU-Pueblo. Senior
Blake Carlson was named the defensive player of the week after limiting last week's opponents to just 13 shots.
RMAC TOURNAMENT PICTUREColorado Mesa clinched a spot in the RMAC Tournament for the third straight season. The Mavericks won the tournament in 2013 defeating Regis in the final match. Colorado Mines has clinched the top spot with UCCS currently in second place followed by a three-way tie for third with CMU, Fort Lewis and MSU Denver.Â
THE WALLFreshman
Briley Guarneri is already cementing himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the nation. The RMAC Goalkeeper of the the Week ranks ninth in the country in save percentage at .857 and currently has the best goals against average (0.63) in program history.
REGIONAL RANKINGSColorado Mesa debuted at No. 4 in the NCAA South Central Region rankings. Midwestern State was No. 1 followed by Colorado Mines and St. Edward's. Last season, the Mavericks won the South Central Region Tournament and advacned to the NCAA Final Four.
COACHINGTodd Padgett is in his second season coaching the Mavericks. He had an extermely successful first season, finishing 18-4-1 and leading the Mavericks all the way to the NCAA National Semifinals in Louisville, Ky.Â
The Mavericks will have four assistants helping them out this season with
Stan Schrock returning as the top assistant. Schrock was an Academic All-American and All-Region defender a year ago.
2014 NCAA NATIONAL SEMIFINALISTSThe Mavericks had their second straight season of firsts. In 2013, they won the RMAC Tournament for the first time in program history. They followed that up with their first NCAA Tournament appearance, NCAA Tournament win, and South Central Region title.
RMAC PRESEASON POLLColorado Mesa was picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches poll but received four first place votes.
Roy Abergil and
Blake Carlson were selected to the preseason All-RMAC team with Carlson earning preseason defensive player of the year.
