Mavericks End Season with Loss To Adams

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – Adams State's Karen Toro scored the golden goal just a minute and sixteen seconds into overtime to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 win over Colorado Mesa on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field.
 
Colorado Mesa got the scoring going in the match. Darion Wiegert scored on a header in the 53rd minute for her second goal of the season. Wiegert headed in a cross from Jessie Parra to give the Mavericks the 1-0 lead.
 
Adams State then started their onslaught on the Mavericks. The Grizzlies outshot the Mavericks 10-6 in the second half and forced Maverick goalkeeper Sarah Schnetzler into making five saves in the half.
 
Kendra Penchoff led the Mavericks with three shots.
 
The Grizzlies scored the match tying goal in the 82nd minute on a Jenezza Sandoval goal.
 
The match ends the season for both Adams State and Colorado Mesa.
