DENVER, Colorado – The 11
th ranked Colorado Mesa men's soccer team extended its win streak to eleven after a 2-1 win over the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Friday evening at the Regency Sports Complex.
Colorado Mesa got on the board early in the match when
Roy Abergil scored in the 6
th minute of the match. Abergil's eleventh goal of the season came when
Nestor Escobar dished a pass to Abergil who then took a shot from 20 yards out and scored.
The assist by Escobar broke the all-time record for assists. Nestor's assist gave him 15 in his career topping his brother, Marco's mark.
The Roadrunners knotted the match at one on a goal by Danny Arrubla. The goal snapped a shutout streak of seven by Colorado Mesa that dated back to October 3. The Roadrunners were also the last team to score on the Mavericks.
Alan Hernandez scored the game-winner in the 72
nd minute of the match when he took a pass from
Roy Abergil and one touched it into the net. The goal was his third of the season and his first game-winner.
Micah Conrads picked up the win in goal and improved his record to 7-2-1 on the season.
The Mavericks will close out the season on Sunday with a match against the Regis Rangers.
