Complete ResultsCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University swimming and diving teams won five events in a triangle meet with Colorado Mines and Air Force on Friday (Oct. 24).
The men defeated Mines 146-85 and lost to Air Force 124-109. The women defeated Mines 171-64 and fell to Air Force 118-111.
The Mavericks won both 200 freestyle relays. The women's team of Mary Saiz, Hannah Mabile, Olivia Bobillier and Abi Young finished in a time of 1:41.63. The men's team of Peter Szekely, Sky Hirsch, Justin Ortiz and
Justin Hastings took the win in 1:25.75.
The women's 200 medley relay of Mary Saiz, Miranda Reetz, Eryn Leonard and Marissa Bradley won in a time of 1:49.40.
The men's 200 medley relay team of
Justin Hastings, Tom Stutzriem, Kyle Johnston and Peter Szekely finished second in 1:34.98, less than .45 seconds out of first.
CMU also won both the men's and women's 100 backstrokes.
Justin Hastings took the men's win in 50.86, and Mary Saiz won the women's in 57.60.
Abbie Porter finished second in the 1,000 free (11:06.60) and second in the 500 free (5:26.05).
The 100 breaststroke was a strong event for the men. Tom Stutzriem finished second (57.94), followed by Josh Bedford (59.86) and Nicolas Pinto (1:00.28).
Marissa Bradley finished second in the 100 free (54.92) and fourth in the 200 free (2:01.09).
Eryn Leonard was second in the 100 fly (1:00.40) and fifth in the 200 free (2:01.60).
Hannah Mabile was third in the 50 free (25.76) and fifth in the 100 fly (1:06.19).
Nick Garrett placed second in the 100 fly (54.10), followed by Kyle Johnston in third (54.48) and Riccardo Caldeira in fifth (55.04).
Amanda Jennings finished third in both 1-meter (200.70) and 3-meter (214.95). Taylor Browns was fifth in both 1-meter (153.08) and 3-meter (173.43).
Sage D'Ambrosia was third in both the men's 1-meter (242.93) and 3-meter (222.75). Ryan Popp was fifth in one-meter (182.48) and 3-meter (214.58).
Other top-10 finishes for the women included; Miranda Reetz second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.75) and second in the 200 individual medley (2:13.93) , Ashley Ochsner fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.94), Sami Lenzmeier fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:22.56), Olivia Hudson fourth in the 100 back (1:03.40) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:23.44), Abi Young third in the 500 free (5:30.51), Maddy Wigg fourth in the 1,000 free (11:06.60) and fifth in the 500 free (5:32.93), Brianna Bearden fifth in the 100 back (1:04.02) and Olivia Bobillier fourth in the 50 free (26.08).
Other top-10 finishes for the men included, Jason Hicks fourth in the 1,000 free (10:38.79) and Jeremy Pacheco fifth in the 1,000 free (10:39.03), Peter Szekely second in the 100 free (47.90), Zack Edgar fourth in the 100 free (48.68), Sky Hirsch third in the 50 free (22.02) and fifth in the 100 free (49.20), Drake Mendelson fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.13), Andrew Scott fifth in the 100 backstroke (56.79), Kyle Johnston second in the 500 free (4:54.99), Garrett Koehler fifth in the 500 free (5:04.84), Justin Ortiz fifth in the 50 free (22.47), Josh Bedford second in the 200 individual medley (1:59.85) and Thomas Stutzriem fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:02.50).
