Swimming Racks Up Wins at Foster Duals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for 26 event wins on the final day of the Bill and Peggy Foster Duals Saturday (Jan. 25).

Briana Purkapile won both the 1,000 free (10:43.24) and the 500 free (5:11.58). She was also a member of the winning 3x100 individual medley relay (3:08.13). Eryn Leonard and Miranda Reetz were the other members of the relay.

Reetz and Purkapile joined Ashley Ochsner to win the 3x100 breast relay in 3:30.83.

Purkapile's third relay win of the day came in the 3x200 free relay. Marissa Bradley, Leonard and Purkapile finished in 6:09.49. The trio joined Olivia Bobillier to win the 500 free relay (50-100-150-200) in a time of 4:49.72.

Purkapile, Leonard and Olson brought home the win the 3x100 fly relay in a time of 3:07.57.

Other individual wins for the women included Eryn Leonard in the 200 fly (2:16.93), Abi Young in the 200 back (2:12.23).

Kent Olson-Stavrakas posted three wins on the day, 25 fly (10.18), 25 free (9.74) and 200 free (1:44.86). He was a member of the winning 400 medley (3:32.58) and 3x100 fly relays (2:38.94).

The men also won the 500 free (50-100-150-200) (4:16.81), 3x100 individual medley (2:47.80) and 3x100 back (2:48.54) relays.
Other event wins for the men include, Thomas Stutzriem in the 200 breast (2:09.12), Jordan Heggen in the 200 fly (2:02.23), Ryan Gifford in the 400 individual medley (4:17.85), Zach Andregg in the 500 free (4:42.60), Garrett Koehler in the 100 free (48.35), Adam Martin in the 25 breast (11.69) and Rob Eisendrath in the 25 back (11.30).

The Mavericks swept both 1-meter diving events with Amanda Jennings winning the women's (401.60) and Brock Martin winning the men's (497.85).

Both the men and women won the team competitions. 

CMU will host the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 19-22.
