Men's Soccer Moves Into Second Place

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's soccer team moved into second place in the RMAC standings after a 3-1 win over #25 Metro State Friday (Nov. 1). Three different players scored for the Mavericks.

Marco Escobar dribbled by a series of Metro State defenders before sending a perfect pass to Alan Hernandez who scored his fourth goal of the season in the 19th minute.

Escobar extended the CMU lead to 2-0 after ripping a shot top shelf in the 76th minute.

Andy Lopez scored the lone goal for Metro in the 82nd minute, but Mesa  answered one minute later.

Brandon Burton netted the final CMU goal from 12-yards out.

CMU held MSU to zero shots in the first half, but the Roadrunners finished with a 11-9 edge in shots for the game.

The Mavericks are 6-0-1 this season when scoring two goals and 9-0-2 when it scores first.

CMU improves to 11-4-3 overall and will host Regis Sunday (Nov. 3).
