LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado Mesa scored a pair of goals in each half to cruise to a 4-0 win over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium.
"We scored a couple of nice goals early that allowed us to control the game. We had a couple chances to really break it open but the CCU goalkeeper played really well," Maverick coach Josh Pittman said.
Maverick senior
Brandon Burton scored two goals in the match. His first proved to be the game-winner and came in the fourth minute of the match when he took a crossing pass from
Kevin Escobar and found the lower left side of the goal.
Burton's second goal came in the second half when he took a pass from
Marco Escobar and sprinted past the defense and the goalkeeper.
"Brandon scored a really nice goal to give us that three goal cushion," Pittman said about Burton's performance.
Senior
Marco Escobar picked up a goal and an assist in the match. The goal was the first of the season while the assist was his third of the year.
Redshirt freshman
Cory Rhodes scored his first collegiate goal of his career. His goal was assited by
Alan Hernandez.
Micah Conrads picked up the shutout in goal making three saves.
Colorado Mesa will conclude their four match road trip next weekend with a pair of matches against Regis and UCCS.
