COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time in as many meetings, the Colorado Mesa Mavericks and the UCCS Mountain Lions finished a match tied. The Mavericks and Mountain Lions tied 0-0 this afternoon at Mountain Lion Field on the campus of UCCS.
Colorado Mesa had numerous opportunities to score but none may have been better than chance they had in the second overtime period.
Marco Escobar took a shot that deflected off Mountain Lion goalkeeper Brandon Costa's hands and went out-of-bounds with just 41 seconds left in the match.
Things really changed late for the Mountain Lions when James Roberts was issued a red card in the 76
th minute. UCCS played a man down for the rest of the match.
The Mavericks outshot the Mountain Lions 17-8 with nine of the shots coming on goal. UCCS didn't have a shot on goal.
Colorado Mesa now has a record of 5-4-3 on the season and 3-2-3 in the RMAC while UCCS is now 3-4-3 on the year and 2-3-3 in RMAC matches.
Colorado Mesa will have three home matches this week starting on Wednesday when they play nationally ranked Colorado Mines at Walker Field.
