Men's Soccer Preview - Northeastern State & Fort Hays State

The Mavericks will compete this weekend in the Tiger Classic at Fort Hays State. The will take on a pair of ranked opponents in Northeastern State and the host Fort Hays State. Here is a preview for this weekends matchs.

Last Week for the River Hawks: Northeastern State picked up two wins last weekend, defeating Missouri-St. Louis 2-0 and Maryville 1-0. In the two matches, the River Hawks outshot their opponents 26-11 and the defense earned two shutouts.

Northeastern State is ranked #20 this week in the NSCAA/adidas National Poll.

River Hawk to Watch: Juan Peralta (So. , Tulsa, Okla.) had a goal and an assist last week. His goal against Missouri-St. Louis was the game winner and assisted on the game-winning goal against Maryville.

Last Week for the Tigers: Fortt Hays State defeated RMAC Foe Colorado Christian 4-1 and South Dakota Mines 3-2 in Lakewood, Colo. over the weekend. The Tigers were the more aggressive team in both matches committing 25 fouls to the opponents 13.

With the two wins, Fort Hays vaulted to the 13th spot in this weeks NSCAA/adidas National Poll.

Tiger to Watch: Forward Thomas Mares (Sr. , Tulsa, Okla.) scored two goals in the wins including the game-winner against South Dakota Mines. He scored those goals on 8 shots.
