Neuwirth's Goal Enough For Mavericks Win

            The Colorado Mesa University Men's Soccer team continued its road swing with a match Friday afternoon in Alamosa against the Adams State University Grizzlies. A lone Maverick goal was all it took for CMU to earn the victory 1-0. With the win, the Mavericks move to 7-3-1 and 5-2-0 in the RMAC while the Grizzlies fall to 1-9 and 1-5 in RMAC matches.

            The lone Maverick goal came off the foot of Phil Neuwirth in the 61st minute. Neuwirth took a cross from Patrick LaPorta and found the near post for his first goal of the season which also proved to be the game-winner.

            Micah Conrads and the defense kept the clean sheet having only faced six shots in the match. Conrads made three saves.

            The Mavericks will conclude their road swing with a match against the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs on Sunday. The match will be for sole possesion of second place in the RMAC.
