Colorado Mesa men's and women's swimming and diving team each posted victories in its first dual meet of the young season. The Maverick men beat Mines 129-114 and the CMU women defeated Colorado School of Mines 120-73.
All American Brock Martin won the 1 and 3-meter dive events scoring 292.30 points in the 1–meter and posting a final point total 275.75 in the 3-meter competition. CMU finished 1-2 in each of the events with Ryan Popp placing second in each category.
CMU's 400 medley relay team of Shaun Seuschek, Brett Lowe, Tyler Kaslik and Peter Szekely won the event in a time of 3:37.07. The Mavericks won the 200 free relay as Szekely, Josh Scheuermann, Rob Eisendrath and Kirk O'Connell finished in a time of 1:27.48 sweeping the relay competitions.
Scheuermann won the 50 free in a time of 22.35 and Kaslik won the 200 fly in 1:59.61.
CMU will return to the El Pomar Natatorium next Saturday to host Adams State University and Western State University beginning at Noon.
Friday afternoon the Mavericks will compete at the Air Force Academy Invitational.
