Mavericks swim past competition at Foster Duals

Foster Dual Meet Final Results

CMU's nationally ranked (#22) men's swimming & diving team dominated the competition Saturday at the Bill & Peggy Foster Duals at the El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.

CMU defeated CU-Boulder 176-74 and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe, Adams State College, 200-50. The Mavericks won 10 titles; nine individual and one relay.

Peter Szekely won two individual titles with victories in the 100 freestyle (49.40) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.50). He was the anchor member on the victorious 400 freestyle relay team posting a time of 3:21.21. Szekely teamed with Drew Vandermeer, Jacob Smith and Scott Strehlow.

Drew Vandermeer won the 50 free in a time of 22.58.

Eric Black won the 100 backstroke in a time of 56.70 and finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:05.24). Teammate Ryan Dake won the 200 back in a time of 1:56.85. Ryan Dake was a multiple winner on Saturday take home first place in the 200 medley (2:05.07).

Jordan Heggen won the 100 fly (56.32) and Shawn Grace won the 200 fly (2:06.23). Michael Carricato won the 500 free in a time of 5:09.54.

CMU will look to continue their momentum at the Colorado College Classic this Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 21-22) in Colorado Springs.
