Orediggers Win 3-2 Decision Over Mavericks

Box Score         The Colorado Mesa men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision over 13th ranked Colorado Mines Orediggers. The Mavericks record drops to 0-4-1 and 0-1 in the RMAC while Colorado Mines' record improves to 3-1 and 1-0 in the RMAC.
        The Mavericks took the early lead on a goal from Freshman Alan Hernandez. Hernandez took a pass from Redshirt Freshman Stevie Palma and put the ball in left side. It was Hernandez' first collegiate goal and gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
        The lead lasted for a little over 14 minutes. Oredigger Phillip Wilson knotted the match at one goal a peice.
        CMU struck first in the second half. In the 55th minute, Stevie Palma broke away from the defense, after receiving a pass from John Vaccaro, and scored on the left side. It was Palma's second goal of the season and lifted the Mavericks to a 2-1 lead.
        That lead lasted not even a minute as Colorado Mines struck back with a goal of their own. Oredigger Baski Baker scored his 2nd goal of the season and tied the match at 2-2.
        With less than 3 minutes to go in regulation, the Orediggers took their only lead of the match. Tesho Akindele snuck past the defense on a corner kick and gave the 'Diggers a 3-2 lead and the match.
        The Mavericks will be back in action this Sunday at 12:00pm as they will take on the Metro State Roadrunners at Walker Field.
