Box Score The Colorado Mesa Mavericks men's soccer team couldn't hold off the Adams State Grizzlies and had to settle for a tie. The Mavericks record now sits at 0-3-1 and Adams State's record stands at 0-1-2.
Colorado Mesa struck first early in the first half (17th minute) on a Stevie Palma goal. Palma's goal came off a rebounded shot, which he put back in on the right side of the goal. His goal was the first of his collegiate career and gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
The Mavericks held the lead for over 62 minutes until Grizzly Hawken Hanna found the back of the net. Hanna took a pass from Peter Freeman, off a free kick, and found the right side of the goal to knot the match at 1-1.
The two teams would play to two scoreless overtime periods and settled for a tie.
CMU outshot Adams State 20-4 on the match and 13-3 on shots on goal. Maverick goalie Micah Conrads made 2 saves in the match.
Colorado Mesa will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next Friday against Colorado Mines at 7:00pm at Walker Field. The Maverick homestand will end next Sunday at 12:00pm at Walker Field against Metro State.
