Colorado Mesa Swimming and Diving team wrapped up its first meet of the season hosting the Intermountain Shootout at El Pomar Natatorium.
Alejandro Hernandez and Kent Stavrakas each had second place finishes to lead the Mavericks in the two-day event.
Hernandez finished second in the 400 IM in a time of 4:17.31. Utah's Eric Murray won the event in a time of 4:13.58. Alejandro placed second in the 200 Butterfly in 1:58.01. Air Force's Paul Leonhardt won the event in 1:56.52. Hernandez finished third in the 200 IM (1:59.96).
Stavrakas finished second in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 21.34. Utah's Nick Soedel clinched first place in a time of 20.83. Kent placed third in the 100 Free in a time of 46.75 and fourth in the 100 Butterfly (52.72).
CMU freshman Cole Kimble, in his first collegiate meet finished fourth in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:17.70.
Brian Lee placed fourth in the 50 Breaststroke in a time of 28.20.
All-American diver Brock Martin finished third in the 1 meter and 3 meter dive events. Martin scored 275.40 and 286.05 respectively in the events.
CMU's relay teams recorded a fourth place finish and several top five finishes in the meet. In the 800 Free the team of Austin Detra, Scott Strehlow, Hernandez and Jordan Heggen finished fourth in a time of 7:32.21.
Hernandez, Lee, Stavrakas and Peter Szekely placed fifth in the 200 Medley (1:38.14). The team of Stavrakas, Detra, Jason Dahlen and Szekely were fifth in the 400 Free (3:18.12). In the 200 Free relay; Stavrakas, Robert Eisendrath, Detra and Dahlen finished fifth with a time of 1:28.28.
CMU will travel to Golden, CO for the Rocky Mountain Invitational Saturday, hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
