Mavericks Go 1-0-1 on the Weekend

The Mesa State Men's Soccer team finished an RMAC road weekend 1-0-1. The Mavericks tied a pesky UCCS team on Friday 1-1 and had a second half explosion to beat Adams State 5-1. The Mavericks now sit at 5-3-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the RMAC.

In Friday's match with UCCS, the Mountain Lions jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Matt Friesen found the back of the net. Friesen's shot found the left side of the net in the 7th minute.

Late in the first half, Mesa State got the equalizer. Senior Reese Kegans (Claremont, Calif.) scored in the 31st minute to even the score. Kegans got a deflection off the goalkeeper and found the right side of the net. It was Kegans' first goal of the season.

The Mavericks and Mountain Lions would play to a scoreless 2nd half and the match would end in a 1-1 tie.

In Sunday's match, the Mavericks would play to a 1-1 tie in the first half. Senior Reese Kegans provided the Mavericks with its lone first half goal in the 21st minute. The goal was Kegans' 2nd goal of the season and 2nd goal of the weekend.
