Mesa State men's golf team finished tied for seventh at the Mustang Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, NM hosted by Western New Mexico University. The two-day men's and women's tournament was held at the University of New Mexico Golf Club. The field included nine teams, seven RMAC schools, and was shortened from 54 holes to 45 due to inclement weather. The teams played 27 holes on Monday and followed up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
MSC (310-162-316 - 788) tied for seventh place with Fort Lewis College (307-155-326 – 788) posting a two-day total 788. Host Western New Mexico won the team event with a two-day total 730. (281-47-302 - 730).
MSC's Brandon Bingaman tied for 16th place in the field of 53 carding a two-day total 190 (75-41-74). Bingaman's round of 74 was a team low for the event. Calen Hoppe placed 24th posting a 194 (75-38-81). Hoppe was tied for 16th following day one's 27 holes. Hoppe's 38 on Monday's nine holes was a team low.
John Savage (202), Michael Reeve (206) and Eric Farmer (208) finished 43rd, 46th and 48th respectively.
Next up for the Mavericks is the Bob Writz Invitational in Castle Rock, CO on April 10 at the Plub Creek Country Club.
