Dan MacDonald led the Mesa State men's swim team to a 101-76 win over Pacific University (OR) and lost to #22-ranked Grand Canyon 178-51 in Phoenix Saturday afternoon. Grand Canyon is an associate member of the RMAC in men's and women's swimming and diving.
MacDonald, a freshman from Gillette, WY, won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.47 seconds. He placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.09) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (22.91).
In the 400-yard medley relay MacDonald and teammates Scott Strehlow, Travis Pahler and Eric Flemming placed third in a time of 3:51.91.
Pahler placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.51), third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.00) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.53).
Justin Skall placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:43.29 and third in the 5-00-yard freestyle (5:42.85).
Eric Flemming finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.51).
The Mavs will host the Mesa State College Duals Saturday January 16 in its first home event in the new MSC Natatorium.
