The St. Mary's (TX) Rattlers took care of business and upended Mesa State today 2-0 at Walker Field. The loss drops Mesa State's record to 0-1-1 while St. Mary's improves to 1-1-0.
The Rattler scoring started in the 58th minute when a crossing pass deflected off a Maverick defender and into the net for an own goal. That gave St. Mary's the lead for good.
Rattler forward Anthony Bustos gave St. Mary's an insurance goal in the 88th when he went streaking down the field when the defense broke down and scored his first goal of the season.
Mesa State will look to rebound from the loss next Sunday as they will take on the Dixie State Red Storm at 1:00pm at Walker field
