MSC men's soccer earned it second consecutive shutout in a 2-0 RMAC league victory over CSU-Pueblo Friday night at MSC Stadium. The win improved the Mavericks to 4-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 RMAC, while the Thunderwolves dropped to 2-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.
Eric Anderson (Sr., F, 5'10, North Logan, Utah) scored his fourth goal of the season on an assist from Sam Dixon (So., MF, 5'11, Missoula, MT) in the 28th minute of the first period. MSC allowed five shots in the first half.
Sophomore forward Reese Kegans (6'1, Claremont, CA) made the most of a free kick scoring his first goal of the year on a header off an assist by Tim Lynn (Fr., DEF, 6'2, Westminster, CO). Kegans goal came 52 seconds in to the second period.
Josh Tinaglia (Jr., 6'2, Littleton, CO) recorded seven saves tending the net for the Mavericks. CSU-Pueblo outshot MSC 15-11 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. There were 15 fouls called in the game, including six yellow cards.
MSC will host UC-Colorado Springs Sunday, 1 p.m. at MSC Stadium.
