Sam Dixon's (So., MF, 5'11, Missoula, MT) goal at the 72:12 mark pulled the Mavericks to within one goal (1-2) of the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers but would be all the scoring MSC would do as Mines held on for the 2-1 victory.
Colorado Mines held a 1-0 first period advantage on a goal by Josh Cruz off a header on a long throw in pass from Kenan Bisic. Mines extended its lead to 2-0 in the second period (64:45) on a goal by Cameron Brown (assist-Grant Manthey).
The loss dropped the Mavs to 8-9 overall and 4-7 in league play.
MSC will travel to Colorado Christian for a game Sunday afternoon in Lakewood.
