Soccer Wins at UC-Colorado Springs

Snap 5 game losing streak

                Reese Kegans (So., F, 6'1, Claremont, CA) scored two of the Mavs four goals Friday afternoon at UC-Colorado Springs in a 4-2 victory over the Mountain Lions. The win snaps a five game losing streak, including four shutout losses.
                Brandon Rood (Fr., MF, 5'9, Sacramento, CA) scored his first goal of his collegiate career (Mitchell Reid – assist) for a 1-0 MSC lead.  The Mavericks held a 1-0 halftime lead allowing UCCS 7 shots in the first period.
                Reid (So., DEF, 5'6, Arvada, CO) extended the lead to 2-0 (55:11) on an assist from Marco Angelo to (Fr., MF, 5'8, Sandy, UT) Rood to Reid for the goal. Less than 30 seconds later (55:34) Kegans scored unassisted on a breakaway and a 3-0 lead. UCCS answered with back-to-back goals (60:09 – 64:56) to pull to within 2-3 with 25 minutes remaining in regulation. Kegans solidified the victory with another breakaway goal (85:34) with less than five minutes left in the game for a 4-2 victory.
                Josh Tinaglia (Jr., 6'2, Littleton, CO) played all 90 minutes in the net recording six saves.
                MSC is 8-7 overall and 4-5 in RMAC action will play at CSU-Pueblo on Sunday afternoon.
