IRVINE, Calif.— A school-record 17 Colorado Mesa University tennis student-athletes were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-PacWest Teams, announced Wednesday afternoon by Pacific West Conference officials.
In order to qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.0 or higher grand point average, have completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition in one of the 15 PacWest sponsored sports.
The Mavericks, who had nine women's honorees and eight men's honorees, have been affiliate members of the PacWest for the past three years in tennis.
The nine women's honorees matches the 2021-22 squad for the young program record and includes two student-athletes in
Delia Maier and
Macy Richards, who both hold perfect 4.0 GPAs. Richards is also one of six Maverick women to earn repeat selection.
The Maverick men's total of eight selections is one higher than last year's school-record mark. The list is led by Jandre VanWyk, who has a 3.91 GPA while earning his third consecutive Academic All-PacWest honor.
