Farmer Inks with the Washington Nationals

With the 2022 Major League Baseball concluding on Tuesday, the free agent signing period opened on Wednesday (July 20). After three former Colorado Mesa baseball players were drafted this week, they added another through free agency.
 
Catcher and third baseman Caleb Farmer signed a free agent contract with the Washington Nationals today bringing the total of Mavericks heading to professional baseball in the coming weeks up to four.
 
Farmer has played 36 games with the Grand Junction Rockies this summer leading up to the draft where he hit .321 with 10 doubles and six home runs.
 
During his final season at Colorado Mesa, Farmer batted .417 with 101 hits, 19 doubles, three triples, 28 home runs and 85 runs driven in. He is the Mavericks all-time record holder in at-bats, runs scored, hits and doubles.
