Colorado Mesa University opened the 2011 campaign Friday at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic in Golden. CMU dropped match one 3-2 versus Montana State Billings (18-25, 25-18, 25-15, 21-25, 14-16).  

Kelly Regimbal and Haleigh Higgins combined for 26 kills in match one versus Montana- Billings. Higgins tallied a team high 18 digs and one service ace. Megan Rush added 17 digs and two service aces. CMU took a 2-1 set lead and held as much as a eight point lead in set four before the Yellow jackets reeled off 9 of the next 11 points to win set four 25-21. Set five went back-and-forth with no more than a two point lead by either team. MSUB tied the set at 8-8 and never trailed again, winning the final two points at 14-14 for the victory.
