COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its weekly notes and players of the week for men's soccer on Tuesday (Oct. 18) afternoon. Colorado Mesa swept the awards this week after shutting out Westminster and CSU-Pueblo.
Senior
Roy Abergil was named the offensive player of the week after scoring four goals over the week. Abergil had his third straight multi-goal match and now ranks second in NCAA Div. II in total goals with 19.
Junior
Slater Elkind was named the defensive player of the week for the first time this season. Elkind helped the Mavericks defense to a pair of shutouts and limited opponents to just 18 shots in two games.
Sophomore
Briley Guarneri was named the goalkeeper of the week after earning a pair of shutouts over the week. Guarneri made eight saves over the week and lowered his goals against average to 0.61 this season.
The Mavericks will play their final home matches of the regular season this weekend at Walker Field. They will host MSU Denver on Friday at 7pm and UCCS on Sunday at 1pm.
